The Book: The Creative Unlearning
The Creative Unlearning was written as a response for us, the artists who are spending so much of our precious time trying to make ourselves and our art fit into prescribed models that lead us to think that we are somehow wrong, that our art is lacking. But we are following rules that weren’t made or work for us. What if everything we have been taught about being an artist requires an unlearning?
What if, instead we find our own ways, led by our experiences of being an artist and what that means to us. This is the beginning of trusting yourself and your journey and knowing that you are your best guide and deep down, you are aware of what it is you want your life as an artist to look like. You get to decide and this book ends each chapter with a set of journal prompts so that you can explore and reflect on your own lived experiences.
